2015 Haxing Arts Festival
The Huaxing Arts Festival is hosted by Huaxing Arts Group
Australia, and supported by Nanhai Culture Media Group and the Australian
Chinese Performing Artists’ Association. The Festival was held on 22 November 2015
at the Concourse Theatre, Chatswood,
The purpose of the event was to celebrate the first
anniversary of the establishment of Huaxing Arts Group; to showcase the hard
work and efforts made by the performance groups involved; to hopefully
introduce pieces to the 2017 Chinese New Year committee; and, for a lucky few,
to be selected to perform in ‘Cultures of China – Festival of Spring’.
Huaxing Arts Group Australia is officially registered with the Australian Government, and is supported by both the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney, as well as the Overseas Chinese Affairs Offices. It is a non-profit arts organisation formed by professional artists of Chinese backgrounds. Huaxing Arts Group seeks to foster and enhance cultural communication platforms between China and Australia.

This would not be possible without the support of both the
Consulate General of the PRC in Sydney, and the Overseas Chinese Affairs
Office. To quote President Qui, “Huaxing Arts Groups Australia displays
tremendous potential in establishing a multicultural performing arts base here
in Sydney through its incorporation of Chinese culture with local arts
resources”.
The event was also attended by numerous VIPs, including Gail
Giles-Gidney - The Mayor of the City of Willoughby; Brian Robson - Mayor of the
City of Canterbury; Jimmy Bai - Office of the Hon. Tony Burke, Member for
Watson; Helen Dickenson Panas - Deputy Mayor of Hurstville City Council;
Virginia Ferris - City of Sydney Chinese New Year Parade Director; Claudia Chan
- City of Sydney Festival Curator of Chinese New Year, Nicole Gaff - event
Manager for Parramatta Council; and Lauren Doughty- CCP Administrator for
Chippendale Creative.
The event was the result of the combined efforts of everyone
involved. To quote Mr. William Yu, leader of Huaxing Arts Group, “we must use
our own powers to help nurture Chinese culture overseas and to help it flourish
and contribute towards Australia’s multicultural community”.
The showcase started at 6pm, with an
introduction of Huaxing Arts Group given by three MCs. Following this was a
ribbon cutting ceremony, performed by the Majors and representatives in
attendance. Through the combined talents of our performers, the future of
Huaxing Arts Group aims to further celebrate and enrich Australia’s
multicultural canvas.
