2016 “Cultures of China, Festival of Spring”
Staged in Sydney
Thanks for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of State Council of the P.R.China and the
China Overseas Exchange Association, and the
Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney, presented by
Nan Hai Culture and media (Australia) Pty Ltd. ‘Cultures of China, Festival of
Spring’ 2016 was held at Sydney Town Hall on 21 February 2016 to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Monkey.
Featuring many famous Chinese
singers, ‘Cultures of China, Festival of
Spring’ combined extravagant audio and visual impact to the local audience.
Through familiar rhymes, the Australian Chinese community both reminisced and
learned more about the popular culture of China today
‘Cultures of China, Festival of Spring’ is a series of international cultural events initiated by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and China Overseas Exchange Association. Since 2009, it has sought to strengthen the bonds between overseas Chinese communities and promote traditional cultural heritage around the world.

Huaxing Arts Group submitted four pieces to the show in total:
Dancers from Janice Breen Show Group with the opening dance – Congratulations.
The young performers’ energy was welcomed by tumultuous applause from the audience.
Shandong dance
– ‘Home Love’, performed by the Ocean Dream
Art Group was a loving expression to the loved ones of their hometowns.
Mongolian dance – ‘Blessing’
featured dancers from the Southern Star Dance
school, and was an excellent showcase of rhythm and traditional dance.
‘Mother’, a renowned song from
popular singer Yan Weiwen, accompanied the Chinese
Wisteria Dance performers in a beautiful display of classical movement
deriving from ancient times.
