How will individuals or organisations apply for the award or grant?
|
Completion of an application form is
required. The form includes name of group, type of dance, number of performer
and their individual names, division the group wish to enter, how long the
performance will take, what music will be played, summary of their group and
an introduction of their performance.

On the basis of what criteria will decisions on recipients of the award
or grant be made?
|
The main areas of consideration are as
follows:
(1) Choreography,
drama and theatrical presentation (including but not limited to facial
expression, energy emitted and emotions portrayed);
(2) Dancing
communication technique and patterns;
(3) Rhythm
and synchronisation with music and with each other.

What requirements will be placed on the recipient as a condition of the
award or grant?
|
The following requirements are placed on
the recipient:
(1) Choreography
and story-line must be original;
(2) The
dance must present Chinese culture or heritage.

Who is Competition judges?
|
Virginia Ferris is the
Performance Director for Sydney Chinese New Year Lunar Festival for 2017 (City
of Sydney Council). She is a successful artistic director, choreographer, event
manger, specialised tutor and adjudicator and has created hundreds of events
and shows in Australia and internationally.
Trent Kidd trained at The McDonald College of Performing Arts. As both a dance captain and choreographer for the Chinese New Year Festival since 2011.

What is being awarded?
|
The awards are trophies. There are a total
of 2 division:
(1) The
single, double and triple member dance team; and
(2) Group
dance team (more than 3 members).
Within each division there are 2 types of
awards:
(1) Best
Dancing Award (1 gold trophy, 2 silver trophies and 3 bronze trophies); and
(2) Best
Choreography Award (1 gold trophy, 2 silver trophies and 3 bronze trophies).
In addition to trophies, those awarded will
be recommended by Huaxing Arts Group (“Huaxing”)
to have the opportunity to enter the Chinese National Dance Competition.
